Christie's Announces Online-Only Jewelry Auction

Christie’s recently announced its first online-only jewelry sale, Summer Jewels, which will feature 100 lots from contemporary jewelers. Christie's is known for its spectacular auctions of rare and collectible jewels. Open from July 17th-26th, internet bidders from around the world will have a chance to view and purchase spectacular pieces ranging from $1,000 to $10,000+. “This inaugural online-only sale of Summer Jewels is an exciting new venture for us at Christie’s.” said François Curiel, chairman of the Christie’s jewelry department. The pieces will mark a much more manageable price range for internet buyers. Often, jewel sales at Christie's bring in record-topping numbers for rare, museum-quality pieces. Among the designers spotlighted are Brazilian-born Lily Gabriella Elia. Highlights consist of a diamond pendant necklace (estimate: $4,000–5,000), an 18K white gold and diamond ring (estimate: $2,800–3,800) and an amethyst, diamond, and gold necklace (estimate: $3,500–4,500).
Designer Olivia Wildenstein’s pieces include a citrine and diamond Bonbon ring (estimate: $1,000–1,500), a garnet and diamond Bonbon ring (estimate: $1,000–1,500), and a pair of cultured pearl and diamond Coeurs Enlacés ear pendants (estimate: $6,000–8,000).
