Congratulations Sean & Katy!

Mervis Diamonds would like to congratulate Sean & Katy on their recent engagement! We are very excited for this wonderful couple and only wish them the very best! How They Met Sean and Katy met in Montauk, New York on a cool Saturday night in June 2012. Katy was out that night with a few of her girlfriends at The Sloppy Tuna, which is a fairly popular place to go in Montauk. As she was leaving, Sean walked in with his brother and a friend. Coincidentally, one of Katy’s friends went to college with Sean, so she quickly introduced Sean to Katy as they were leaving. Before Sean could ask Katy for her number, she was gone. However, that didn't stop him from trying to ask Katy on a date. He quickly put together that his friend had Katy’s friend’s phone number. Sean texted his friend, Sean’s friend texted Katy’s friend and Katy’s friend texted Katy for permission to share her number—he really wanted that date! Once Sean finally got in contact with Katy, the two went on their first date at Uva, which is a wine bar near Katy’s apartment in New York City. Throughout the next couple of months, Sean and Katy spent a lot of time together. They would go to Montauk on the weekends, where they would watch surfers and sip on iced coffee from Bliss Kitchen at the Montauk Lighthouse during the mornings, and go to the beach with some friends, ate lobster rolls at Clam Bar and drank BBCs at Cyril's in the afternoons. Back in the city, they would spend time together at Katy’s apartment pool and would go out to dinner to different restaurants, such as Barrio Chino, Lure and 15 East. With the great summer they had together, Sean asked Katy to be his girlfriend. Since then, Sean and Katy have shared many special moments and fun adventures. They both met each other’s families and continued to visit Montauk every summer. They have traveled to different cities and countries together such as, Deer Valley, Santa Monica, Australia, New Zealand, Anguilla, Mexico and many more. Sean and Katy also did a sailing trip together with Sean’s family, where they sailed around St. Vincent, and the Grenadines, touching 12 islands in 10 days! However, no matter all of the adventures they have had, Montauk continued to always be their special place. The Proposal On a romantically rainy day in March 2015, Sean took Katy to the Montauk Lighthouse. Sean told Katy how special the lighthouse was to him because it always reminded him of her. He told her, “I could come here every day with you and never get tired of it. And I know we will continue to come here together… because I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” With that said, Sean got down on one knee, opened a Mervis Diamond ring box and asked Katy, “Will you marry me?” With no doubt in her mind, she of course said, “yes”.
