Four-Star Trips Itinerary Breakdown By Day

Day 1
Depart Washington DC aboard the United Airlines, non stop flight to Cape Town.
Day 2
You’ll be met by our Great Safaris representative and whisked away to the iconic V & A waterfront located in the oldest working harbour in the Southern Hemisphere. The next four nights is spent enjoying the hotel located in close proximity to the waterfront. Welcome briefing at the hotel early in the evening.
Day 3
This full day tour is an ideal way to see the highlights and appreciate the surrounding natural beauty. You’ll travel along the Atlantic seaboard with its gorgeous white beaches and rugged mountains to Hout Bay, continue to Cape Point Nature Reserve, the tip of the Cape Peninsula that has captivated travelers for centuries with its dramatic scenery and fascinating history. The return journey to Cape Town takes you along False Bay coast visiting the colony of rare African Penguins at Boulders Beach. As one of only two land-based colonies in the world, it is also one of the only two places where people can see these penguins without having to hire a boat – not to mention have close encounters with them. These birds are an iconic part of South Africa’s wildlife heritage.
Day 4
Another day of unforgettable scenery begins as you depart on your full day private tour to the winelands. Enjoy a spectacular drive through beautiful mountain scenery to the Cape's World-Famous Wine Estates. You will stop at popular wineries where you can sample some vintages during the day and enjoy a leisurely lunch.
Day 5
Today on your final day in Cape Town, Ride Like a Local by cable car up Table Mountain to take in an inspiring panorama of the city. Next, view City Hall the Company Gardens, Parliament and Tuynhuisx. En route, enjoy a discussion of such topics as freedom, democracy and historical role players, such as Mandela, Tutu & De Klerk. Continue to the waterfront. Board a boat for Robben Island, where the anti-apartheid leader — and eventual South African president — Nelson Mandela was once imprisoned. Explore this moving UNESCO World Heritage Site and view a cell where Mandela was held. Return to the Victoria & Albert Waterfront or your hotel.
**Note: Table Mountain and Robben Island touring may be unavailable due to weather conditions. In such an instance, alternative sightseeing will be provided.
Day 6
A morning transfer takes you to Cape Town International Airport for a scheduled flight to Johannesburg, followed by an overland road transfer to Pilanesberg National Park. Upon arrival you'll be warmly welcomed, enjoy lunch before , the afternoon activity and returrning to the lodge for dinner.
Day 7 & 8
For the next two days, set out on a morning game drive in an open safari vehicle. After lunch and some time at leisure, meet for afternoon tea before heading out for another exciting game drive. One evening here, savor a Scenic Sundowner at an incredible viewpoint. On your last night in the bush, gather for a farewell dinner.
Day 9
A final game drive is followed by breakfast at the lodge. Transfer by road transfer to Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport for your flight back home. En-route, stop at the Chameleon Village craft market that has the most distinctive and comprehensive African market in Africa- featuring curios, antiques and artefacts from all corners of the African continent.
Day 10
Arrive home, Washington DC.
