Now this is an Engagement Ring! The Swiss jeweler Shawish has created an eye-popping ring that’s made entirely out of one 150-carat diamond. “A ring made entirely of a faceted diamond has always seemed like a fantasy,” Mohamed Shawish, president of Geneva-based Shawish Jewellery, according to press materials. “To create the perfect diamond ring is the epitome of art.” Conceptualizing the ring was easy — building it was the hard part. Shawish secured the copyright for the all-diamond ring one year ago in Geneva. It took one year to get the copyright and Shawish had to undergo multiple tests with the design to get the precision of the circle right using special laser equipment to cut directly into the diamond. The most important aspect is preserving the integrity of the diamond and of course the most difficult phase is precision cutting an entire stone into a ring. Shawish is now in search of the perfect hand to create the 68 million, 150-carat masterpiece.
